6 Months!

Sweet little Abbers. Half a year old already. Our baby's growing up too fast!
  • We've finally got you down to a 3 nap schedule. You go to bed @ 7:30 and wake up @ 6:30. You can barely stay awake longer than 1.5 - 2 hrs at a time most day, even if you take a 2hr nap.
  • You roll over and sleep on your belly now. Although I want to, I don't go in and flip you over. I swear it keeps me up at night when it looks like you're sleeping flat on your face. It is cute, however, to see your little butt up in the air when you're asleep.
  • You're still just an okay eater. You LOVE sweet potatoes and eat one good meal of baby food a day. You take 4 bottles a day now.
  • No teeth yet, but you do "chew" the heck out of your little fingers and drool like crazy.
  • You do so much better in the car now, only fussing occasionally when you're sleepy.
  • Your hair is finally starting to fill back in. It's no longer sticking up in front b/c it's too long. It just flops over into your eyes. I can't clip it back b/c you squirm too much.
  • You're really perfecting your reach and grasp. Sometimes you can pick up a puff, but getting it into your mouth is different story. You especially like to go for the tv remote.
  • You have no interest in holding your own bottle, just like someone else I know. Hopefully you won't wait as long.
  • You can sit up by yourself for the most part when you support yourself w/ your hands. I still put pillows around you just in case.
  • We love how you light up when you see your brother. You will sit there and just stare at him forever. It's so sweet.

Abby's Baptism

With Easter over, we were finally able to have Abby's baptism. We had it down in Fort Smith. A small, private ceremony amongst family. It was a beautiful and blessed occasion and we were so fortunate to have our families there to help us celebrate.

Abby did fairly well considering she'd missed a nap, though she scowled the entire time. She howled like the dickens when the priest pour the baptismal water on her head. Poor thing, she passed out immediately afterwards and missed the celebratory lunch.

We want to express our appreciation to all of our family members for their presence. A special thank you my brother, Nghia, who accepted the role of godparent to our baby girl. You are such a loving and positive presence in her life. And much love and gratitude to Scott's parents, and especially to his sister, Jill, for making the long drive to join us. It meant so much to us that you were there for Abby on this special day. She is truly so blessed!

Easter 2010

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. The weekend was beautiful, though a bit windy. Who doesn't like hunting eggs in 30mph wind gusts? The Easter bunny was good to Nick this year. I never noticed before, but it seems these days that every holiday involves large amounts of candy. Where was all this candy when I was growing up? Anyway... Nick had his highly anticipated egg hunt after church. There was no way he was waiting until after lunch. He won by a large margin since he was the only one hunting in our backyard. We dyed eggs the day before and he had his first and last taste of hard boiled egg. Poor kid. He was so excited about it, too. As for Miss Abby, she was content to watch her big brother. I imagine she'll give him a run for his money next year.

Give you one guess which child needed a nap.

First Razorback Game

Scott took Nick to his very first Razorback baseball game Saturday. Father and son were both excited, but each for different reasons. For Scott, the Hogs are nationally ranked again and he hadn't been to a game in ages. For Nick, the cotton candy. Turns out they didn't have any cotton candy, but he was able to console himself w/ copious amounts of ice cream.

Scott said the best moment was when they took their seats to watch the players warm up and do sprints. When they starting running Nick jumped up and started shouting "go, go, go!!" That elicited a few chuckles from those in the stand. That was also the last time he paid any attention to the action on the field. He did look at the scoreboard once and saw the word OUT. He asked Scott, "What are they out of? Are they out of cotton candy?"
