The thing to focus on here is the crooked bow in her hair. Obviously.

Mr. Ken

I'm sure you've seen a post or two about Nick's resistance (putting it oh so mildly) to getting his hair cut. Well, 3-4 months ago Scott and I thought we'd give it another go at a salon. Scott took him to Great Clips and a guy named "Mr. Ken" cut his hair. He did fabulously. We were stunned. Where did this compliance come from? I suppose it didn't hurt that we bribed him w/ his toy of choice at Walmart.

So Mr. Ken has been his stylist for the last few months. Ask him and he'd be happy to tell you. School pictures were coming up and he needed a trim. Unfortunately, Mr. Ken was not available and one of the girls there had to do it. After the cut, she styled it per my request (a fauxhawk of sorts b/c the front was too blunt.) I wish you could have seen the look on Nick's face and heard his howl of indignation.

"What did you do to my hair?! I've got crazy hair now!! What? What? What did you do?!" I tried to explain to him that his hair looked cool. His response was, "crazy hair is not cool!!"

The stylist could not stop laughing, and neither could everyone else in the salon. When Scott fixed Nick's hair for school the next morning, he immediately put water on it and brushed it down. The following day was picture day. I asked him to let me style his hair. Once pictures were over he wouldn't have to wear the crazy hair anymore. As soon as we arrived, all the teachers and moms told him how cool his hair looked. I'm quite certain he could not have walked around w/ his chest puffed out any higher. He has not complained about his hair since. Although we have not styled the fauxhawk now that the "bangs" look better. If you ask him who cuts his hair now, he'll say, "that woman."

Mealtime

It's been kind of slow going for Abby in regards to baby food. I told you she's not a real big eater to begin with. Good thing right now it's mainly to practice. She does have moments where she will take big bites. Mostly she moves it around her mouth before spitting it back out. Here are a couple pictures of her trying out cereal for the first time and a video of her trying green beans for the first time. Notice in the video how interested Nick was w/ the situation.

Whoopee!

Nick and I went to Fast Lanes today for bowling and video games. Among his stash of "prizes" was a whoopee cushion. When he got around to playing w/ it and realized what it did, his reaction could only be described as overjoyed. He is a 4 yr old boy after all. He even came up w/ the idea to play a joke on his Daddy. He was so excited he could barely contain himself waiting for Scott to get home from work. Below is a video of his prank. I didn't do a very good job w/ the vid, but you can still tell he was pretty pleased w/ himself.

5 Months!

Our sweet little girl. Five months old today! Time is flying by and we can't seem to slow it down.
  • You love your sleep. I think you sleep more now than when you were 3 months. I've given up trying to put you on a 3 nap schedule. Some days you do and some days you don't. What's a mama to do?
  • You've been giving us a good 10-11 hrs at night. Although some nights you like to wake up and talk to yourself for a good 20mins before drifting off again... just long enough to make sure I can't go back to sleep.
  • You are not a big eater, still doing 6oz every 3 hrs. You did try cereal for the first time yesterday. You were not real impressed.
  • You love to flash your beautiful smile at everyone, except when you're in your car seat.
  • I cannot keep you from falling asleep in the car, even for ten minutes. My nap schedule has no chance.
  • You rolled over from back to tummy for the first time 2 days ago. But you haven't done it since.
  • You are losing all that thick hair on top. You have a strip of peach fuzz on the left side of your head from rubbing it back and forth on the bed. Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have 3in tufts of hair next to the bald spot.
  • You love to play in the Exersaucer. You make quite a racket in that thing. We love watching you grab and examine all the toys on there.
  • You are super nosy, I mean curious, stopping your bottle so you can turn your body around to see what's going on.

Of course the camera ran out of memory right before she rolled over.
