Around The Corner

Can you believe this month is almost over? Although summer won't officially start for another month, it starts for us after this week. We've got lots of fun stuff coming up.

Today was Nick's last day of school. I can't tell you how happy that makes him. Although he doesn't complain about school anymore, he sure does enjoy his days off. We had a family picnic at school today. I'll post pictures next week. I've got him in a MDO for the first part of summer twice a week at a new place. He's looking forward to it as his little friend Hanna will be in the same class w/ him. He's also taking swim lessons this summer. I'm excited for him. Hopefully his aversion to having water on his face won't interfere too much! We've got our annual trip to Hereford coming up and Scott's 20th high school reunion at the end of summer. We had a beach trip planned w/ the Dormans in July to Dauphin Island, but that had to be canceled due to a little oil spill. We still plan on seeing them in July for a mini vacay so all is not lost. I see many days of hanging out w/ friends and frying in the heat in our future.

Hope everyone has a spectacular and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Happy Birthday Old Man!!

Today is Scott's birthday. I won't say how old he is, but to quote Nick, "he's old." We love him anyway.

He is a wonderful daddy. He teaches our kids perspective, patience, empathy, honesty, and loyalty by example everyday. He is a wonderful husband. He eats my cooking and never complains, always telling me it's my best yet. He washes the dishes w/out my asking. He helps me put the kids to bed every night. He unloads the dishwasher. He wisely ignores my backseat driving, most of the time. Most of all, he makes me laugh.

Happy Birthday, Sweetie!!

(look how handsome he is!)

Splash Machine

She just recently discovered splashing. She soaked everything, including me. Nick was cracking up and told me he wanted a bath in the kitchen sink. Now that would be a photo op.

In The Fort

Okay, technically it's not Ft. Smith, but close enough. We went to visit my parents over the weekend. The kids and I left on Friday morning and Scott met up w/ us Saturday morning. I'm sure he appreciated being able to sleep in past 6:30.

The kids soaked up every ounce of attention from my family because you know, they never get any. Making it extra special was the presence of Huy and Shannon. The first thing Nicholas said when he heard they would be there was, "they will want to take me to Chuck E Cheeses." I'm sure they will. It was nice getting to spend a little one on one time w/ Nicholas. We hung out at the park and ate sno cones. Abby had no shortage of babysitters.

Good times, as always, with my family.

This was her first time swinging. She loved it!

Road Rage

Abby is getting pretty good at scooting around in the walker. But she hasn't quite figured out reverse yet. This is what happens when she gets stuck. You'll need to turn the sound up.

Huntington's Birthday

One of Nick's friend from school, Huntington, had a birthday party over the weekend. His mama, Ashleigh, did a nice job w/ the party. Theme was Backyardigans w/ bouncy house, face painter and an appearance from Pablo himself. As we were leaving Nick announced that he had a really good time and immediately asked to come back the next day.

7 Months!

Can it be possible? I feel like I just posted you turning 6 months. You are such a good little baby. We are so blessed to have our little munchkin!

  • You're a good napper and nighttime sleeper. We are so thankful for that. You can't seem to stay awake for longer than 1.5-2 hours at a time. All your napping doesn't seem to disturb your nighttime sleep, so we just go w/ the flow. I can't believe I just said that.
  • You weigh around 16lbs. Your last appointment at the pedi you were 40th percentile on weight and 50th percentile on height.
  • You wear 6-9mos clothes, although I have tried recently to stuff you into 3-6mos clothes. I often forget about outfits hanging in your closet and feel compelled to have you wear them at least once.
  • You're doing much better w/ the baby food, although I think finger foods (other than puffs and cheerios) are a couple of months away. You get sooo excited when you hear me shake that can of puffs. You can pick up cheerios most of time, but just can't quite get it from your fist into your mouth. But, oh do you try. I love to watch you.
  • Still no teeth.
  • You can sit up unsupported fairly well. Occasionally you'll do a face plant when you get too excited and try to reach for something.
  • You are very close to getting up on all fours. You like to show off your "push ups" when we get you up from your nap. It is just the funniest thing.
  • You are scooting around a little in the walker now, going forward and backwards. You just growl, holler and blow raspberries when you get stuck.
  • You eye your brother's toys w/ purpose now. He's not going to know what hit him once you start moving.
