Father's Day

Well, Father's day came and went. It was nothing special. Just kidding! We love and appreciate all the Daddies out there, especially ours!

We did keep Father's day low key, per Scott's wishes. As usual, our celebrations revolve around food. Chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, pizza for lunch and burgers for dinner. And let's not forget that ah-mazing rainbow cake! We just hung out doing nothing in particular, just enjoying each other's company. Part of the day was spent in the back in Nick's pool.

Nick's gifts for Scott this year were a couple of t-shirts, an old school Pepsi logo and a Buddha Sushi (not familiar w/ this.) What he really wanted to get for Scott was an orange Crush t-shirt. But I convinced Nick to let me have that one instead. I think Scott owes me one.

We love you Daddy!!

The Kitchen Sink

Bathing in the kitchen sink going to be a thing of the past. She's getting too big and much too active. I spend way more time mopping up water than I do bathing her.

I think she looks like my Dad in the last picture. It's the expression. I will have to find one of him w/ the same expression and do a side by side.

Eating The Rainbow

My friend Beth made a rainbow cake. She got it from this website. Nicholas and I decided we would bake one for Father's Day.

It wasn't hard, but it was definitely time consuming. Nicholas was driving me nuts asking when the cake would be ready to eat. I thought it turned out well and Nick had so much fun helping me. But I won't be making this cake again anytime soon. There was so much cake left over.

The Office

Nick has an office now. He's too busy to be bothered. He's got work to do.

I had set a little table in our "library" and designated it as Nick's art corner. He liked the idea so much that he decided to convert it into his office. I was feeding Abby, but could see he was quite busy, going back and forth and muttering to himself. I could tell by his tone that he was very pleased w/ himself.

Here he is at his desk. I love all the stuff he used to decorate his desk...

I put Abby in her walker and she immediately set upon his desk ramming into it. Nick could not appreciate the humor in it as I did. He hollered and complained. Then he set about drawing a sign to show Abby where her office was located. His placement of Abby's office was no surprise.

8 Months!

Our sweet, sweet Abigail. Where has the time gone? How is it you are 8 mos already?!
  • You are just the sweetest, most easy going baby. Most of time. You do have your moments, although I suspect it's b/c you're teething right now.

  • Speaking of teething, you got your first tooth! Just one, but I'm sure #2 will follow shortly.

  • You take 2 or 3 naps a day, depending on how long your naps are. I mostly follow your lead, but you have finally fallen into somewhat of a regular schedule. You adapt well to whatever changes there are to your schedule and rarely complain.

  • Not sure how much you weigh. I think you're around 17lbs. You've thinned out a bit since you're more active now.

  • You were slower to take to baby food than Nicholas, but are quicker to accept table food. You love graham crackers. Still not too good at feeding yourself table food, so I kinda speed things along by feeding you myself. Not good for your self feeding skills, but good for Mommy's time management.

  • You're getting pretty skilled w/ the sippy cup managing to spill only half of the liquids in the cup.

  • You are the squirmiest baby, ever! You will grab at everything and put everything in your mouth. The complete opposite of your brother.

  • You can clap your hands a little and will sometimes lean in to give us a kiss. It is just so sweet.

Bathing Beauties

Breaking in the pool. Abby never actually got in the water, but I couldn't resist putting on her suit.

Just look at that bottom lip. We've got no chance.

He needs some water toys doesn't he? He seemed to enjoy himself anyway.

Lunch With Daddy

One of my fondest memories growing up was bringing lunch to my Dad at his work. He would come out to the car and eat while my brothers and I would hang out the windows or sit on the hood. Good times.

So I thought it would be fun to have the kids bring lunch to Scott at his office instead of meeting at a restaurant like we normally do. We plopped down in the middle of Scott's office, pulled up a box and had ourselves a little picnic. Nick was sooo happy (despite his expressions in the pictures below.) He just loved the idea of a picnic in Daddy's office and was almost giddy. Afterwards, we all took a stroll down the walking trail by his office. It was nice. I think we'll be doing this often.

This is why I love my husband, he does stuff like this w/ our kids.

Gnawing on a french fry.

He really did enjoy himself.

Photo Op - Day 84

This is considered a good hair day... it's off her face.

Look at that tooth!

Hanging Out

This is how my kids have been entertaining each other.

Nick pulls her walker onto the carpet thus ensuring she is a "willing" participant during his reading. I love how she's moving her feet trying to get away.

Another First Friday

It was another First Friday on the Bentonville square, so Heidi and I decided to take the kiddos out there for lunch. If you've never been there, you should check it out. It was good fun.

There were food vendors, live music and a few small activity tents for the kids. We didn't do much other than eat and let the kids get their face painted and play around the water fountain. It was sweltering. Heidi and I shared a philly cheese steak and what seemed like 5lbs of fries. The kiddos munched on foot long corndogs and sipped on yummy lemonade and limeade. We topped it off w/ dessert. Ice cream for the girls and a dirt cake from Kupcakes for Nick. The kids were in heaven I'd say. Next time we're trying the crepes.

She was so good and didn't complain once.

I love this picture of Nick and Hanna.

Check out the difference in quality in their paintings. Nick had his done by an 8 y/o kid. In case you couldn't tell, those are balloons on his face.

Always happiest when he's eating his sweets.

One hot little mess!

Sweet little Hanna. Isn't she beautiful?

Photo Op - Day 81

I love when they play together. I also love Nick's "wake up" face. It is just the sweetest!
