A Very Happy Mother's Day

Mother's day this year was wonderful! I hope it was special for all the other moms out there as well.

My favorite part was the whole gift experience w/ Nick. I love it when he picks out a gift for me by himself. Scott took him to Target a couple of nights ago to pick out my present. He told Scott he was sure I'd want a toy and headed straight over there (he knows Target inside and out, we go there often.) Scott said maybe not. He was sworn to secrecy. But I just couldn't help it. I love asking him because he just can't keep a secret. I usually loosen him up w/ a couple of general questions, then I go in for the kill. The problem is usually deciphering what he's talking about.

M: Did you pick out a present for mommy?
N: Um, yeah. But I'm not suppose to tell you.
M: Did you go to WM or Target?
N: Uh, we went to both.
M: Really? Did you get my gift at Target?
N: Yeah.
M: What'd you get me?
N: It's a thing that you put stuff in and then you can put it in your cup.

Scott got me a beautiful necklace w/ the kids' birthstones on it and a couple of blog books. I've been wanting one of those books since my friend Heidi got one. He did such a good job. I can't begin to tell you how much I love love love them. I got one for 2008 and 2009. I rarely ever go back to read a post and it was fun for us to flip through the books and reminisce. Seeing all the memories documented (many of which we had forgotten) really made me glad I started and stuck w/ the blog. I am now recommitted to this "project."

I was pampered the rest of the day and treated to a scrumptious brunch at Copeland's and a delicious dinner cooked by my hubby. Happy Mother's day to my mom and to Scott's mom. Thank you for your love and support. Thank you to my sweet hubby. You made it such a special day for me. Thank you to my sweet babies, Nick and Abby. I love being your mommy.

This is his new thing now, the #1 sign. Here he is jumping in at the last second as Scott's taking a picture of me and Abby. It makes me laugh every time I look at it.

First Fridays

Once a month the Bentonville square holds an event called First Fridays. This was our first outing. We will definitely come back. Nicholas loved it, enjoying the food and music. He put on quite a show for those around us. Abby enjoyed people watching. Scott and I enjoyed the yummy food and watching Nick. I did not take a picture of it, but Scott and Nick shared a dessert of fried Twinkies and fried Snickers. You can imagine my horror and Scott's bliss.

Family Photos

Our pictures are finally up! We are really happy w/ them. If you would like to view, please let me know and I will give you the password. They will be available for viewing for only a week.

I had asked him to please change into the clothes I laid out for him. He decided to wear this instead. It was a cool 49 degrees outside. Love how it showed off his tattoos.

Dinner Guests

It's been forever since we've had dinner guests. Fortunately, the Barnes family was nice (and brave) enough to accept our invitation.

Before our guests arrived, Scott and I had a talk w/ Nick about being a gracious host and what that entailed. Funny, because shortly after they arrived, Sarah and Eric told us that they had a talk w/ their kids in the car about being polite guests. Not that they needed to, their kids are so well behaved. Well, Nick made us so proud. Seriously. Who was this kid? He greeted everyone at the door and asked Jack and Sophia if they wanted to go upstairs to play w/ his toys. Checking on them at one point, I saw Nick playing on his piano and singing into his mike while Jack/Sophia sat there and watched. It was pretty comical. I told him that they would probably rather play w/ his toys than sit there and watch him. To make them feel welcomed, Nick talked nonstop. Nonstop. I think Jack/Sophia were able to get a few words in. Our favorite moment was when he told Scott on the way down to dinner, "Daddy, Jack is getting so big now."

After dinner we broke out the Wii. Watching the kids play was the highlight of the night, especially Jack. That kid cracks me up! Just check out the video below.

Thanks to the Barnes family for coming. We had such a good time and hope to do it again soon!

Razorfest

Scott and my brother Steve took Nicholas to Razorfest this year. This was their first time. It's an event put on by the university with all sorts of games, inflatables and opportunities to meet the football players.

It was a rainy day and there were serious doubts whether or not they could attend. As they arrived in Fayetteville, the rain really starting coming down. They would have to turn around. You should have seen it. Eyes welled up w/ tears and voice quavered w/ barely suppressed disappointment. And Nick was even more pitiful. So they went ahead and made their way to the stadium. By the time they found parking, the rain had stopped and the sun came out. Plus most of the activities had been moved onto the covered concourse. The day was saved!

Nick had such a good time he did not want to leave. He played for a good 2 hours. I'm sure my brother was ready to leave after the 1st half hour. Overall a success!

Hanging Out

I do have a post coming w/ lots of sweet pictures of my two babies loving on each other. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, which won't be long I fear. This particular morning they are really enjoying each other's company. Nick does most of the talking and Abby does most of the staring. It's pretty cute I must say.

Watching a little Saturday morning cartoon.

The look on Abby's face cracks me up. Btw, the scribbles on Nick's face are whiskers. He's suppose to be a cat.
