Lunch With Daddy

One of my fondest memories growing up was bringing lunch to my Dad at his work. He would come out to the car and eat while my brothers and I would hang out the windows or sit on the hood. Good times.

So I thought it would be fun to have the kids bring lunch to Scott at his office instead of meeting at a restaurant like we normally do. We plopped down in the middle of Scott's office, pulled up a box and had ourselves a little picnic. Nick was sooo happy (despite his expressions in the pictures below.) He just loved the idea of a picnic in Daddy's office and was almost giddy. Afterwards, we all took a stroll down the walking trail by his office. It was nice. I think we'll be doing this often.

This is why I love my husband, he does stuff like this w/ our kids.

Gnawing on a french fry.

He really did enjoy himself.

Photo Op - Day 84

This is considered a good hair day... it's off her face.

Look at that tooth!

Hanging Out

This is how my kids have been entertaining each other.

Nick pulls her walker onto the carpet thus ensuring she is a "willing" participant during his reading. I love how she's moving her feet trying to get away.

Another First Friday

It was another First Friday on the Bentonville square, so Heidi and I decided to take the kiddos out there for lunch. If you've never been there, you should check it out. It was good fun.

There were food vendors, live music and a few small activity tents for the kids. We didn't do much other than eat and let the kids get their face painted and play around the water fountain. It was sweltering. Heidi and I shared a philly cheese steak and what seemed like 5lbs of fries. The kiddos munched on foot long corndogs and sipped on yummy lemonade and limeade. We topped it off w/ dessert. Ice cream for the girls and a dirt cake from Kupcakes for Nick. The kids were in heaven I'd say. Next time we're trying the crepes.

She was so good and didn't complain once.

I love this picture of Nick and Hanna.

Check out the difference in quality in their paintings. Nick had his done by an 8 y/o kid. In case you couldn't tell, those are balloons on his face.

Always happiest when he's eating his sweets.

One hot little mess!

Sweet little Hanna. Isn't she beautiful?

I love when they play together. I also love Nick's "wake up" face. It is just the sweetest!

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend, so you know what this means. We are off on a wild west adventure to Hereford, TX. It's a trip we look forward to every year. Even more so for me and Scott this year... we got ourselves an Odyssey. That's right, I drive a minivan. Let me tell you, the trip was so much easier this time around. I don't particularly enjoy squeezing myself between two car seats catering to my kids for 9+ hours. I actually enjoy sitting up front and talking to the hubs. Fold down console equals happy mama and kids, well mama anyway.

As always, Nick was beyond excited to go to Magi and Grandad's house. An even sweeter treat was Aunt Jill visiting as well. Poor Denis had to work. We missed you!

We struck a new deal w/ Nick. On vacations or visits to grandparents, he can stay up late even w/out a nap, but he has to do a good job eating dinner. And no whining. He held up his end of the bargain, at least for the first night. Not so much the next, though his earlier bedtime was by no means early.

Both kids basked in the attention and spoilage that only grandparents can provide. We had a fantastic time. The trip is always too short it seems. Nick didn't want to leave saying, "I want to stay here all the days." You could tell he was sad. He even suggested that Magi and Grandad drive back with us. The fact that we would be back later this summer soothed him somewhat.

On our way back, Granny Charlotte and Aunt Kay met us in Shamrock for lunch. This was their first time meeting Abby and I have to say they were quite taken w/ her. It was so nice of them to make the drive to see us. We don't get to see them often. I think it's awesome that our kids still have their great grannies around to spoil them.

Enjoying some java. Yes, those are snowmen on her sleeper.

Four wheeling at the farm. He loved this.

Granny and Aunt Kay. Thank you for coming out to meet us!

Around The Corner

Can you believe this month is almost over? Although summer won't officially start for another month, it starts for us after this week. We've got lots of fun stuff coming up.

Today was Nick's last day of school. I can't tell you how happy that makes him. Although he doesn't complain about school anymore, he sure does enjoy his days off. We had a family picnic at school today. I'll post pictures next week. I've got him in a MDO for the first part of summer twice a week at a new place. He's looking forward to it as his little friend Hanna will be in the same class w/ him. He's also taking swim lessons this summer. I'm excited for him. Hopefully his aversion to having water on his face won't interfere too much! We've got our annual trip to Hereford coming up and Scott's 20th high school reunion at the end of summer. We had a beach trip planned w/ the Dormans in July to Dauphin Island, but that had to be canceled due to a little oil spill. We still plan on seeing them in July for a mini vacay so all is not lost. I see many days of hanging out w/ friends and frying in the heat in our future.

Hope everyone has a spectacular and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Happy Birthday Old Man!!

Today is Scott's birthday. I won't say how old he is, but to quote Nick, "he's old." We love him anyway.

He is a wonderful daddy. He teaches our kids perspective, patience, empathy, honesty, and loyalty by example everyday. He is a wonderful husband. He eats my cooking and never complains, always telling me it's my best yet. He washes the dishes w/out my asking. He helps me put the kids to bed every night. He unloads the dishwasher. He wisely ignores my backseat driving, most of the time. Most of all, he makes me laugh.

Happy Birthday, Sweetie!!

(look how handsome he is!)

Splash Machine

She just recently discovered splashing. She soaked everything, including me. Nick was cracking up and told me he wanted a bath in the kitchen sink. Now that would be a photo op.
